On November 11th, the Information Office of Guangyuan Municipal People’s Government held a press conference in Chengdu, officially disclosing the phased progress and 2027 long-term goals of the city in building a “100 Enterprises, 100 Billion” China Green Aluminum Capital. At the meeting, Zhang Sanqi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the Economic and Information Technology Bureau of Guangyuan City, clearly stated that by 2027, the number of large-scale enterprises in the city’s aluminum based new materials industry will exceed 150, with an output value exceeding 100 billion yuan. At the same time, a production capacity of 1 million tons of electrolytic aluminum, 2 million tons of purchased aluminum ingots, and 2.5 million tons of recycled aluminum will be formed, marking a key stage in the development of Guangyuan’s aluminum based industry to accelerate progress.
Wu Yong, Deputy Mayor of Guangyuan Municipal Government, introduced at the press conference that the aluminum based new materials industry has been established as the first leading industry in the city and has now built a solid industrial foundation. Data shows that Guangyuan’s current electrolytic aluminum production capacity reaches 615000 tons, accounting for 58% of the total production capacity in Sichuan Province, ranking first among prefecture level cities in the Sichuan Chongqing region; The production capacity of recycled aluminum is 1.6 million tons, the aluminum processing capacity is 2.2 million tons, and more than 100 high-quality aluminum enterprises have gathered, successfully building a complete industrial chain of “green hydropower aluminum – aluminum deep processing – comprehensive utilization of aluminum resources”, laying a solid foundation for subsequent scale expansion.
The growth momentum of the industry is equally impressive. In 2024, the output value of Guangyuan’s aluminum based new materials industry will reach 41.9 billion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of up to 30%; Based on this strong growth trend, it is expected that the output value will exceed 50 billion yuan by 2025, achieving the phased goal of doubling the output value within five years. From the perspective of long-term development trajectory, the aluminum based industry in the city has achieved leapfrog growth. The output value in 2024 has increased by more than 5 times compared to 2020, and the number of enterprises above designated size has increased by 3 times compared to 2020. The net output value has increased by 33.69 billion yuan in four years, promoting Sichuan’s primary aluminum production capacity to successfully enter the national second tier.
Green development and deep processing have become the core driving forces for industrial upgrading. At present, all three electrolytic aluminum enterprises in Guangyuan have obtained the national green aluminum certification, with a certification scale of over 300000 tons, accounting for one tenth of the national certification scale, demonstrating the ecological background of the “Green Aluminum Capital”. In terms of extending the industrial chain, a group of backbone enterprises such as Jiuda New Materials and Yinghe Automotive Parts have been cultivated, with products covering more than 20 types of automotive and motorcycle parts, aluminum based negative electrode lithium-ion batteries, high-end profiles, etc. Among them, key automotive components have been matched with well-known car companies such as Changan and BYD, and some aluminum products are exported to countries and regions such as Singapore and Malaysia.
To support the implementation of the “100 Enterprises, 100 Billion” goal, Guangyuan is accelerating the construction of three major centers for aluminum trading, processing, and logistics in Sichuan, Shaanxi, Gansu, and Chongqing. At present, the West China (Guangyuan) Aluminum Ingot Trading Center has been put into operation, and the first designated delivery warehouse for aluminum futures in Sichuan has been officially established. The “Guangyuan Beibu Gulf Port Southeast Asia” sea rail intermodal train is operating normally, achieving the goal of “buying globally and selling globally” aluminum products. Wu Yong stated that in the next step, Guangyuan will continue to strengthen policy guarantees, promote the aluminum based industry towards higher added value, greener and low-carbon direction through measures such as industry specialized services and special policy support, and fully build the industrial foundation of China’s green aluminum capital.
