The International Aluminium Institute (IAI) has released its latest monthly report, revealing a notable rebound in global alumina production for March 2026. Total output reached 12.647 million metric tonnes (mmt), equivalent to an average daily run rate of 408,000 tonnes. This marks a significant month-on-month increase from February 2026, when global production stood at 11.816 mmt.
China, as the world’s dominant alumina producer, led the global surge. Its estimated March 2026 production climbed to 7.53 mmt, up from 7.05 mmt in the prior month. This robust growth underscores China’s pivotal role in the upstream aluminium supply chain, driven by steady demand from its primary aluminium smelters and downstream manufacturing sectors.
The sequential uptick in March reflects improved operational efficiency and restocking activities across major refining regions. Higher alumina output signals a strengthened raw material pipeline, which is poised to support stable primary aluminium production and, in turn, meet the booming demand for high quality aluminium sheets, bars, tubes, and precision machined components in automotive, construction, and industrial applications.
For downstream buyers, a well-supplied alumina market lays a solid foundation for consistent, cost effective procurement of finished aluminium products. Our company specializes in supplying premium aluminium sheets, aluminium bars, aluminium tubes, and custom machining services. Backed by a stable upstream supply chain and rigorous quality control, we deliver high strength, corrosion-resistant aluminium products tailored to diverse industrial needs.
