On May 11th, according to the latest data from the General Administration of Customs, the export of unprocessed and rolled aluminum and aluminum materials in China showed a strong growth trend in April 2026, with a significant increase in monthly export volume, reaching a new high in nearly a year, demonstrating the strong competitiveness of Chinese aluminum products in the global market.
1. The monthly export volume has reached a new milestone, with both year-on-year and month on month growth
Data shows that in April 2026, China’s export volume of unprocessed and rolled aluminum and aluminum materials reached 598000 tons, with impressive export scale performance.
Significant year-on-year growth: compared to the 518000 tons in the same period of 2025, it increased by 15.4% year-on-year, demonstrating strong growth momentum.
Significant increase on a month on month basis: Compared to the 485000 tons in March, there was a sharp increase of 23.3% on a month on month basis, with a monthly increase of 113000 tons, showing a rapid growth momentum.
Set a new high in the stage: The export volume of 598000 tons this time broke the highest monthly record since December 2024 (506000 tons), marking a new peak in domestic aluminum product exports.
2. Accumulated exports steadily increase, with impressive performance in the first four months
From the annual cumulative data, aluminum exports have started well in 2026 and maintained steady growth overall.
From January to April this year, the cumulative export volume of unprocessed and rolled aluminum and aluminum materials in China reached 2.054 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.1% compared to 1.883 million tons in the same period last year. Against the backdrop of tight global aluminum supply and strong overseas demand, China’s aluminum products continue to steadily export, effectively filling the global supply gap.
3. Behind the surge in exports: dual drivers of global supply gap and price advantage
The explosive growth of aluminum exports in April was mainly driven by the global market supply and demand pattern and internal and external price differences.
On the one hand, the reduction in production by aluminum plants in the Middle East has led to a significant global supply gap, and international aluminum prices have remained high, creating a favorable external environment for China’s aluminum product exports. On the other hand, the complete supporting infrastructure of China’s aluminum industry chain, coupled with the support of a 13% value-added tax rebate policy, has made aluminum materials have significant price competitiveness in the international market, attracting a concentrated influx of overseas orders.
Currently, new energy vehicles, photovoltaic energy storage and other fields have become the new engines of global aluminum consumption, further driving overseas aluminum demand. As the world’s largest aluminum producer, China is continuing to receive overseas orders, and the trend of export growth is expected to continue.
